2 ways to sell

Posted on 17. Aug, 2009 by Brett in Wrk

I have two friends who are in sales. One sells cell phones and the other sells medical services. They are also the best at what they do & are ranked first in their stores and their districts. One of them even got pulled in front of 15 store managers where they drilled him with questions, trying to figure out his super secret sales techniques.

The unusual thing is they are both quiet people. You might call them introverted. They don’t have any of the traits that most people expect of the salesmen persona–loud, extroverted, charismatic, smooth-talking. Nope. They quietly go to work, are honest with people, clearly explain the value added, and absolutely dominate the salesforce.

If you want to sell something, you have two options. Shout and scream and beg for attention (cough cough car salesmen cough cough). Or you can try to make people’s lives better by persistently offering something they really need in a way that sounds like a friendly conversation over coffee. The first option will work…

it will…

for a time.

But the second option will last.
